How to log a festival

You log a festival by typing it. In Encore 1.6.0 you create the festival (name and dates), then add or link each set you actually saw. There is no festival database, so nothing about the lineup, the stages, or the set times is filled in for you. Each set is an ordinary concert in your diary.

One weekend, as the app does it

From your archive, long-press the add tile so you are adding a festival rather than a concert. Give it a name. The dates start as three days, and you change them to the days you were there. A city and a note are optional. A poster, if you want one, comes from your photo library. Encore does not fetch a poster.

Open the festival and add a set from there. The date, the city, and any friends you already tagged on earlier sets are filled in; you still name the artist and the venue. A rating, photos and notes are optional. Or link concerts that are already in the diary. Encore suggests the ones that fall on the festival’s dates. It does not suggest artists you have not logged.

The festival page groups those sets by day, under the poster, like a lineup you built. There is no map of the site and no separate festival stats. A rating, notes, and photos or videos on the set are optional, and the photos and videos stay on the iPhone.

What counts toward 10

The festival itself is not a concert. Each set you add is. A weekend where you saw eight sets uses eight of the ten concerts on the free plan, and those eight count in your stats and in the year-end wrapped. Every feature is in the free plan. The cap is the concerts.

If you only mark sets on a friend’s shared festival, those marks are not added to your own diary and do not count toward your limit. Joining from an invite link requires signing in.

Sharing the weekend

You can publish the festival to a shared group and send an invite link. Friends who join see the lineup and mark which sets they attended. The poster is uploaded only if you agree to share it. Any member can leave the group. Concert photos and videos are not that poster: they stay on the phone.

What this will not do

  • It will not load a lineup, a stage, or a set time. You type the sets you saw.
  • It will not scan a ticket or a screenshot to create the weekend.
  • It will not save a setlist unless you write one in the set’s notes.
  • It will not restore a backup onto a new phone. Signed-in backup sends concert text up. This version does not bring it back down, and nothing syncs between devices.

How other diaries describe festivals, from their own pages, is on the festival tracker page. That page is not a ranking. Logging a single show, outside a festival, is in how to remember every concert you’ve been to.

Questions

Does Encore look up the festival lineup?

No. There is no festival catalog and no pre-loaded lineup. You enter the name, the dates, and an optional city and notes. For each set, you name the artist and the venue; the date and the city can come from the festival. A rating, photos and notes are optional. Encore does not look up stages or set times.

Does each festival set count toward the 10-concert free plan?

Yes. Each set you add is a normal concert in your diary, so it counts toward the free plan’s cap of 10 and toward your stats. The festival itself is not a concert. A weekend with eight sets uses eight of the ten. Sets you only mark on a friend’s shared festival are not added to your diary and do not count.

Can I save the setlist of a festival set?

Only by typing it. Encore has no setlist feature. Notes on the set are where a setlist goes if you write one. Encore does not scan a ticket to create the festival.
